Demons and demonic possession are very real! Dan Corner has had the unusual opportunity to drive a demon out of a young woman while he was pastoring as he conducted a Bible study. The demon possessed girl attended this Bible study, similar to the man with an evil spirit in the synagogue where Jesus was teaching in Mark 1:21-26. Most Christians are unaware that the devils attend church.
The girl asked for prayer because her stomach hurt. As Brother Dan Corner laid his hands on her head and began to command the demon to come out in Jesus’ name, she fell to the floor and started to cough repeatedly. Brother Corner continued to pray and command the demon to come out. Suddenly she fell back on the floor and appeared to be dead. After awhile she opened her eyes and got up. When Brother Dan cautioned her to get saved or the demon would return and bring with it seven more wicked demons, she readily asked God for mercy.
She informed all who were present that the demon had grabbed hold of her lungs as it made its way up through her throat and came out of her mouth.
This is a convincing testimony of the power in Jesus’ name. All Christians have this powerful spiritual weapon available to them. By the way, a wooden cross and holy water have no effect on the demonic.
Following the publication and popularization of the Harry Potter book series, many professing Christians rightly came out in protest of the books and movies. Like other books for children and teens, the Harry Potter series is about witchcraft and wizardry, sins which will send one to the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8). Witchcraft through Harry Potter has, unfortunately, been growing in popularity to the detriment of SOULS.
The Harry Potter books and movies put the wrong ideas associated with the occult in the minds of children at an impressionable age. While Christian parents may love books that motivate their children to read, they must carefully avoid all which may lead them astray from Christian beliefs, especially into something as sinister as the occult.
The occult refers to a variety of unscriptural beliefs and practices such as magic, astrology, divination and more. Most people associate the word occult with witchcraft and Wiccan beliefs. This would include popular Harry Potter, the false idol of many spiritually endangered young people.
Biblical Christianity takes a strong stand against the occult and occultism, and rightly so. A few of the reasons Christians are so opposed to anything having to do with the occult is found in Deut. 18:10-12. Those Scriptural reasons, and others, have led to the Christian belief that any involvement with the occult will disastrously end with the occultist being thrown into the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8), unless he repents. In Acts, when sorcerers repented, they publicly burned their witchcraft books (Acts 19:19).
She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.
Very encouraging is Mark 5:12,13. It shows 2,000 demons begging Jesus before they were driven from inside a man they had horribly tormented:
The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” He gave them permission, andthe evil spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned. (Mark 5:12,13)
NOTE: Animals can even become demon possessed, according to that! Other Scriptures show that young children can also be demon possessed! How a little child could be afflicted in that manner is not clear, but it is still factual, for it does occur, but there is hope in God through the Lord Jesus Christ:
Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?” “From childhood,” he answered. (Mark 9:21)
The Greek word translated childhood there means infancy! Jesus came to the rescue again as the passage goes on to read. Do you know that one and only Savior of mankind? If not, repent and place a submissive faith in him to unashamedly follow and serve him. This is a heaven or hell issue. GOD BLESS YOU.
